What is the Armadale Council thinking about?
Armadale council has taken away parking options which will kill two of Perths best outdoor garden events, the Tulip festival and the Chilli festival. What is this council thinking about!!... Tens of thousands of people flock annually to these two events which showcase, in my humble rate payers opinion, the best intimate botanic garden and outdoor event venue south of the river. The cynic in me wonders whether there is some council coffer filling plan afoot or maybe the councillors involved just didn't think and the decision was passed on a late Friday afternoon vote. The worst possibility would be a lurking developer exploiting legal but unethical loopholes and greasing palms. With all the building development going on, I see that the suburbs of Perth are not exactly teeming with botanic gardens!! Certainly nothing of the calibre of Araluen.Who knows how or why this parking decision was made… (Well actually the councillors involved know!)… So long as the council realise that this decision needs further thought, reappraisal and reversal. This blog site has been established to collect the support, thoughts and feelings of ordinary people.... not councillors, not state politicians, but those ordinary people who actually visit the festivals, celebrate their weddings and have family outings at Araluen.
